Needy Family Fund tops $115,000
SUNBURY -- The Needy Family Fund has topped $115,000 as donations continue to come in following the Christmas holiday.
The balance is $115,611, said a spokeswoman for Susquehanna Bank, the fund's depository. That sum includes a $25,000 challenge grant from the Degenstein Foundation.
Sponsored by The Daily Item, Sunbury Broadcasting Corp. and Susquehanna Bank, the Needy Family Fund raises money to buy food, clothing and gifts for the Valley's less fortunate. It is administered by Salvation Army citadels in Sunbury and Milton.
