TAMAQUA — Roger Dale Jones, 52, of Tamaqua, formerly of Duncannon, passed away along with his wife, Geraldine Jones, as a result of an automobile accident on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, on Route 309, north of Allentown.
Roger was born March 22, 1961, in Harrisburg, a son of Patricia A. “Price” Jones, of Duncannon, and the late Richard L. Jones.
Roger was a graduate of Susquenita High School, Harrisburg Area Community College and State University of New York Empire State College.
He was employed in sales for Work MSM Public Safety.
Roger was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and a lifetime member and former chief of the Duncannon Fire Company, the New Buffalo Fire Company, the Progress Fire Company and several other fire organizations. He was a member of Newport Lodge 381, Free & Accepted Masons, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon and was an Eagle Scout.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two stepsons and their wives, John and Tanayha Sprenkle, of Hometown, and Sam and Heather Sprenkle, of Williamsburg, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ricky L. and Chris Jones, of Shermans Dale; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan E. and Craig Miller, of Halifax; two stepgrandchildren, Katy and Jacob; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Violet M. Taylor.
A viewing will be held from 9 to noon Friday in Otterbein United Methodist Church, 327 Newport Road, Duncannon, followed by the funeral at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of the Jones family may be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1701 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon.
