— TAMAQUA — The world experienced a great tragedy on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, when a car accident on an icy road claimed the lives of Geraldine Jones, the former Geraldine Sprenkle of Snyder County, a beloved mother, granny, sister and friend, and her husband, Roger, of Tamaqua.

Geraldine Marie Banko was a daughter of Matthew and Margaret Banko, of Simpson, who preceded her.

Gerri was a hard-working and dedicated employee of the Weis Markets accounting office in Macungie. Previously, she was an assistant store manager of Giant Foods in Lewistown and had 27 years in the grocery store industry in various positions.

Gerri strived for excellence in all that she did in her life, especially being a granny. Her family and her grandchildren were her life. She was a God-fearing woman with a faith that moved mountains, with a passion for baking, cooking, sewing and homemaking. She understood the value of people better than things and always was straight forward to the heart.

She is survived by two sons, John Sprenkle, of Tamaqua, and Sam Sprenkle, of Williamsburg, Va., and their wives, TaNayha Sprenkle and Heather Sprenkle; her grandchildren, Katy Sprenkle, Jacob Sprenkle and Cameron Fritz-Sudduth; sisters, Mary Ann Long, of Selinsgrove, Ann Strange, of Harrisburg, Margaret Helms, of Carbondale, Jane Canning, of Eddinburg, Texas, and Joan Miller, of Fargo, N.D.; brothers, John Banko, of Simpson, Joseph Banko, of Barnstead, N.H., Robert Banko Sr., of Lake Ariel, and Gregory Banko, of Minneapolis, Minn.; one uncle, Alexander Henchek and wife Lorraine, of Loveland, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Cook, and one brother, Matthew Banko Jr.

A visitation will be held from 9 to noon Friday in Otterbein United Methodist Church, 327 Newport Road, Duncannon, with services for both her and her husband, Roger Jones, to immediately follow. A light luncheon will be held in the church hall.

Burial will be in Witmer’s Memorial Cemetery, Port Trevorton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Geraldine's memory may be made to Pastor Terry Herman at Community Bible Baptist Church, 509 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
