DANVILLE — Robert E. Cook, 85, of Liberty Valley Road, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at RiverWoods Nursing Facility, Lewisburg.
He was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Danville, a son of the late Millard and Lucille (Haas) Cook. On June 28, 1947, he married the former Bernice Seesoltz, who survives. They celebrated 66 ½ years of marriage.
Robert was a successful businessman, owning and operating various enterprises throughout his life, including a foundry, a bar and numerous rental properties. He was the founder and operator of Amity Leasing Corp. After his retirement at 67, Bob decided to try his hand at farming.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Ellen Cook, of Danville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Connie and Steve Lahr, of Northumberland, and Jeannie Hulsizer, of Selinsgrove; eight grandchildren, Bobby III, Shawn “Mike,” Tammy, Shannon, Sara, Tabitha, Christy and Wesley; 15 great-grandchildren; and a half brother living in the Danville area.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Larry Horne officiating.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
