LEWISBURG — Mary Snyder Keister, 81, of 616 Market St., passed away early Sunday morning, April 21, 2013, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
A native of Union County, she was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Charles B. and M. Josephine (Kunkle) Snyder. On Nov. 20, 1955, she married Walter K. Keister, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2011.
Mary was a graduate of Lewisburg High School and the Central Pennsylvania Business College.
She had been employed in the admissions office at Bucknell University for more than 30 years. She and her husband also were partners in Keister’s Livestock Auction from 1974 to 1995.
Mary attended Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She was an avid league bowler, enjoyed bingo and the beach and was a fan of Duke basketball, the Phillies and Penn State football.
She is survived by three children, Amy K. Rhoades, of Lewisburg, Rodney S. Keister, of Netcong, N.J., and Dana J. Kemberling and her husband, Donald A., of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Lyndon Imes, of Port Royal, and Kyle and Courtney Kemberling, of Middleburg; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Banks Imes.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles E. Snyder, and her beloved granddog, Gizmo.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to noon Wednesday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at noon with the Rev. John H. Shaw III officiating.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
