DANVILLE — Jean S. Weston, 84, of 3001 Sunbury Road, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Blum) Sherry. She lived at her home in Rush Township, Northumberland County, for 24 years.
Jean was a graduate of Hunter College High School, New York City, in 1947 and of Swarthmore College in 1951. She was a school librarian in New Jersey for 20 years and since moving to Danville was a volunteer in the Geisinger Medical Center library.
She also was a poet.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Susquehenna Valley, Northumberland. She also was a Joseph Priestley Chapel associate, Northumberland.
Jean enjoyed quilting and was noted for her hospitality.
Her husband, William Weston, preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1998.
Surviving are three children, Jenny Kittrix, of Keller, Texas, Beau Weston and wife Susan, of Danville, Ky., and Lila and husband James McNulty, of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy and husband Paul Kashap, of Santa Cruz, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the Joseph Priestley Chapel, Northumberland, with her pastor, the Rev. Ann Keeler Evans, officiating.
A potluck dinner will follow the memorial.
