Betty J. Zechman, 82, Carlisle

— CARLISLE — Betty J. Zechman, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center with family by her side.

She was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Lewisburg, the daughter of the late Wilson D. and Rose (Yarger) Dieffenderfer. She was married to retired Army Lt. Col. Donald L. Zechman, who died Oct. 13.

Betty was a 1949 graduate of Montandon High School.

She was a loving homemaker and attended Bethany Evangelical Church, Carlisle.

Betty loved to play bingo.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Margaret Brown, of Mifflinburg, and Dirk and Chris Zechman, of Carlisle; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kevin Sheriff, of Carlisle; one stepdaughter, Kathy Keiser, of Champlain, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ewing Bros. Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, followed by a memorial service at 2 with the Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in West Milton Cemetery.
