MILTON — Leon V. “Lefty” Fullmer, 84, of Center Street, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Kramm Health and Rehabilitation Center, Milton.
He was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Milton, the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Russell) Fullmer. He was married to the former Marcella Guffey, who survives.
Leon was a 1946 graduate of Turbotville High School and served in the Marine Corps.
He was employed as a butcher at Acme Market in Watsontown.
Leon was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Milton, for 56 years. He was very active in the church, serving on many committees and in many positions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Milton, the Williamsport Consistory and the Watsontown American Legion. He was active with the Milton Little League as a coach and served as president.
Leon played soccer and baseball in high school and tried out for the New York Giants baseball team. He was an avid reader and read his Bible every day. He liked to bowl and was a Penn State fan, having season tickets for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Peggy Fullmer, of Milton; one stepdaughter, Nancy Stahlnecker, of Milton; two grandchildren, Melissa Musser and Gretchen Fullmer, both of Milton; and three stepgrandchildren, David Stahlnecker, of Milton, Dale Stahlnecker, of Watsontown, and Julie Noaker, of Lewisburg.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 102 Lower Market St., Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial with military honors will be in Turbotville Cemetery.
