Lewis V. “Louie” Reichner, 81, Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — Lewis V. “Louie” Reichner, 81, of Queen Street, passed away at 5:32 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.

He was born July 5, 1931, in Sunbury, a son of the late Charles “Boop” and Eva (Scott) Reichner. On Jan. 12, 1952, he married the former Raydelle T. Hankey who survives.

Louie was a 1950 graduate of Northumberland High School where he played baseball. He later served with the Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he learned the tool and die trade on the G.I. Bill in Shamokin.

He spent his career as a tool and die maker for Wilson Manufacturing, Sunbury, later Wil-Hold and retired after many years of dedicated service.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 44, Northumberland Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 897, the Northumberland Fire Company No. 1, and the Northumberland Hook and Ladder.

Louie was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and spend time in his vegetable and flower gardens. He was a talented bowler who played on many local leagues. He was also a very involved father who often accompanied his daughters Girl Scout troop on their camping trips.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra J. and Daniel J. Chesny; three grandchildren, Valerie P. Benner and husband, Chad, Alicia D. Gemberling and husband, Jeff ,and Alexander J. Chesny, all of Sunbury; five great-grandchildren, Kirsten M. Benner, Cameron T., Adyn E. and Eliana G. Bickel and Amara R. Gemberling; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Gayle Reichner, of Northumberland; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen Tyler, Diane and Jack Ulrich, and Susan and Ben Kelley, all of Northumberland, and Linda and Foster Delosier, of Selinsgrove.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Vickie A. and Marthea R. Reichner; and two sisters, Janet Reichner and Joanne Stettler.

Friends and family may call from 11a.m. to noon Friday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland where the funeral service will follow at noon.

Burial with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 44, Northumberland will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
