John A. Brouse Sr., 87, Milton

— MILTON — John A. Brouse Sr., 87, of Vertie Lane, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home.

He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Mazeppa, a son of the late Homer Ray and Sallie Emeline (Gessner) Brouse. He was married to the former Dotty I. Delsite, and his death breaks a marital union of 66 years.

John was a 1945 graduate of Montandon High School.

He had been employed by Lycoming Motors and ACF.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Milton, Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 256, Milton, Milton Royal Arch Chapter 290, Vallerchamp Council No. 25, Mount Herman Commander No. 85 Knight Templar, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Williamsport 32nd degree, Pennsylvania York Scottish Rite No. 11, St. James Red Cross of Constantine in Shamokin, Shriners International Irem in Dallas, Sunbury Shrine Club, Grand College of Rites of the USA, St. Thomas of Acon Pilgrim Chapel No. 11, Sir John of Milton, Allied Masonic Degrees Robert L. Rooke Council No. 343 in Lewisburg, the Royal Order of Scotland of the USA and the Order of the Triple Triangle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John A. Jr. and Suzanne Brouse, of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon M. and Charles Greiner, of Milton; four grandchildren, Chris Greiner, Chad Greiner, Jee Brouse and Jason Brouse; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, H. Richard Brouse, of West Milton; and four sisters, Anna E. Hauge of Arlington Heights, Ill., Charlotte M. Neitz, of Milton, and Seleca M. Robenolt and Shirley A. Roush, both of Milton.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Connie L. Brouse and Lori J. Brouse; four brothers, Norman O. Sr., Charles W., Robert E. and George F. Brouse; and one sister, Esther M. Fisher.

Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, with a Masonic service at 5:50. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Mahoning St., Milton, with the Rev. Cheryl L. Berner officiating.

Burial will follow in Dreisbach Church Cemetery, Lewisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sunbury Shrine Club Transportation Fund, c/o Irem Shrine, P.O. Box 307, Dallas, PA 18612-0307.
