She enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading the Bible, winning Chinese checkers and listening to her children at the kitchen table over a cup of hot coffee. She also loved going to Gaither concerts when they were in the area.

She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Crystal Keister, Dale and Larae Keister, Terry and Ruth Keister, Vincent and Lori Keister and Todd and Lisa Keister, all of Middleburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Dale Rigel and Lori and Brian Hoke, all of Middleburg; 11 grandchildren, Kelly Heeter, of Beavertown, Tina Brosious, of Danville, Tracy Davis, of Middleburg, Shaun Keister, of California, Kristin Richard, of Beavertown, Justin Keister, of Mifflinburg, Leah Smith, of Middleburg, Shane Keister, of Watsontown, and Nolan Keister, Ashley Hoke and Brittany Brunson, all of Middleburg; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Barry Hackenberg, of Middleburg; and four sisters, Peggy Weikel and Betty Zechman, both of Penns Creek, and Doris Walter and Elva Mitchell, both of Middleburg.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bright H. Keister Jr.; five brothers, Sheldon, Rudy, Verdon, Howard and her twin, Nester Hackenberg; and two sisters, Jean Shambach and Martha Walter.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral at 10 with Pastor Bob Klingerman officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Esther’s memory may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1366 Zion Road, Middleburg, PA 17842, or Evangelical Community Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
