— SHAMOKIN DAM — Lila M. Lahr, 99, of 8 Smokehouse Lane, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, in the Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove.

She was born in Sunbury on May 2, 1914, a daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Zimmerman) Walt. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lahr, in 1990.

She and her husband formerly owned and operated a farm in Lower Augusta Township.

She was a member of the Augustaville Wesleyan Church.

Lila enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, cooking, and flower and vegetable gardening.

She is survived by one brother, Arville “Lester” Walt, of Sunbury; one sister-in-law, Helen Lahr, of Sunbury; and five close nieces, Linda Freire, Treva Dockey, Lena Paul, Phyllis Pickering, and Naomi Lawrence, and many other nieces and nephews and extended family.

Lila was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Alfred, and John; and one sister, Eva Biddinger.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Arrangements are being handled by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
