Florence M. Stahlnecker, 84, Lewisburg

— LEWISBURG — Florence M. Stahlnecker, 84, of Strawbridge Road, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at RiverWoods where she had been residing since 2010.

Born July 14, 1929, in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Hattie (Spickard) Snyder. On Feb. 19, 1955, she married Ralph L. Stahlnecker and they have celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Florence was a 1947 graduate of Milton High School and had worked in the offices at the former Follmer Gas and Oil Company and Follmer Trucking earlier in her life. She also helped her husband with the family farm and after raising her family worked in the offices of Time Markets in Lewisburg.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown, and had served on the election board of Buffalo Township.

Florence enjoyed gardening and baking pies, especially for church suppers.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas R. and Beckie Stahlnecker, of Selinsgrove, and Kenneth E. and Jill Stahlnecker, of Gunnison, Colo.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra J. and Jeffry Engle, of Millmont; Carla A. and Jace Watson, of Mifflinburg, and Kathy L. Stahlnecker, of Espyville; five grandchildren, Kirstie A. and Connor R. Stahlnecker, Tyrus J., Halley G., and Joely S. Watson; one step-grandson, J.J. Anthony; one step-great-granddaughter, Ella D. Anthony; one brother, Franklin E. Snyder, of Milton; and three sisters, Edyth Davis, of Danville, Caroline Greenly, of Millville, and Ruth Greenly, of Milton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Donald Snyder, and one sister, Judith Snyder.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dan May, interim pastor, officiating.  

Burial will follow in Delaware Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Florence’s memory be made to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., Seventh Floor, New York, NY 10001, www.alzfdn.org or to a charity of one’s choice.
