NEW COLUMBIA — Shirley M. Trutt, 73, of Reedy Road, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Maniwaki, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late John L. and Olive (Denomme) Cayer.
Shirley was a proud member of the Algonquin Indian, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabag Tribe.
She worked as a seamstress at Hili in Penns Creek.
Shirley liked to travel and drive a car. She received her driver’s license when she was 50. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Karen Trutt, of Milton, and Phil Trutt, of New Columbia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and John W. Wilver, of Milton and Lori and Jeff Phelps, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers and a sister, Raymond, Edmund, Donald, and Doris Cayer, all of Maniwaki, Quebec; and seven grandchildren, Benjamin and Mandi Wilver, Elijah, Isiah, and Ava Trutt, and Audrey and Nate Phelps.
Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Cayer and Deana Cayer-Lickers-Stockman.
A traditional Algonquin funeral will be held in Quebec at the convenience 0f the family.
Arrangements are being handled by the Shaw Funeral Home, Milton.
