Velma E. Ballent, 81, Mount Pleasant Mills

— MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS — Velma E. (Inch) Ballent, 81, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into rest on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Clair E. Sr. and Edna V. (Wagner) Inch. She was married to Leonard J. Ballent Sr., who preceded her in death.

Velma was employed at J.G. Ott Manufacturing, Selinsgrove, and J.B. Lee’s 5 & 10 Store, Harrisburg.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlecreek Dam, and attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills. She was a member of AARP.

Velma enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and crossword books, watching TV and cooking.

She is survived by three children, Richard A. Ballent, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Terry L. Ballent Sr. and wife Rebecca, of Enola, and Alice L. Ballent, of Mechanicsburg; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clair E. Jr. and Barbara Inch, of McAlisterville, and George W. Sr. and Charlene Inch, of Selinsgrove; and four sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Musser, of Selinsgrove, Frances Herman, of Winfield, Betty and Robert Eberle, of Port Trevorton, and Linda Fisher, of Selinsgrove.

She was preceded by one son, Leonard J. Ballent Jr.; two granddaughters, Brandy Ballent and Heather Osborne; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Musser, Max Herman and Calvin Fisher Jr.; and two sisters, Anna Jane Inch, in infancy, and Patricia Inch, in childhood.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by the funeral at 8 with Pastor Debra J. Dailey officiating.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts may be made to the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc. to help defray funeral expenses.
