William G. Musser, 87, Middleburg

— MIDDLEBURG — William G. Musser, 87, of 1325 Starlight Drive, passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family two weeks after his birthday. His passing followed a battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Monroe Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Clarence H. and Dollie May (Try) Musser. On April 9, 1960, he married the former Sara Jane Grubb, who survives.

Bill attended school in Dry Valley, Hummels Wharf and Lewisburg High School. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956.

He retired in 1988 after 26 years of service with Faylor-Middlecreek Construction, Winfield. Bill also farmed during much of his working life.

Bill found enjoyment in hunting, gardening and farming.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dale Whitmer, of Winfield, and Joyce and Larry Engle, of Northumberland; three grandchildren, Bradley Whitmer and Jennifer and Justin Engle; and one great-grandson, Andrew Long, son of Jennifer Engle and Kyle Long.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Kline, and one brother, Clarence, in infancy.

Private funeral services will be conducted in the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, with the Rev. Greg Hobelman officiating.

Burial will be in Penns Creek Union Cemetery.
