HERNDON — Marlene E. Long, 80, of Herndon, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born May 18, 1932, in Elysburg, the daughter of the late Mark and Lucenia (Shankweiler) Byerly. On April 10, 1982, she married Ned Long, who survives.
Marlene attended Mahanoy Joint High School.
She formerly was employed by the Herdon Pizza and Sub Shop.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Urban.
Marlene enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, crocheting, painting, browsing on her computer, reading and caring for her two cats.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children and their spouses, LuAnn and Jeffry Wetzel, of Herndon, Jim and Tammy Leitzel, of Lewisburg, and Cheryl and Jeffrey Bordner, of Herndon; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and Tyler Barninger, Bradley Wetzel, Jennifer Novinger, Shane and Jennifer Leitzel, Nicholas Leitzel, Brandy and Shawn Chassion, Brianna Winters, Kimberly Bohner, Jeffrey Jr. and Deanna Bordner, Mark Leitzel and Adrienne Leitzel; and 11 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Ashlynn, Madeline, Victoria, Blayne, Andrew, Austin, Sebastian, Storm, Kaitlyn and Trent.
She was preceded in death by one son, Craig E. Leitzel.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
