SELINSGROVE — Dorothy C. “Dort” Troup, 86, of Graysonview, formerly of Freeburg and Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Manor of Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Freeburg, a daughter of the late Clarence E. “Jack” and Blanche (Walter) Lauver.
During World War II, she was employed with Chef Boy-Ar-Dee Quality Foods Inc., Milton, packing C-Rations for the war effort, and later with J.T. Ott Packing Co., Selinsgrove.
She was a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Freeburg, and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills, where she assisted with the prayer chain.
Dorothy enjoyed flowers, spending time outdoors and spending time with her family, especially her grandson.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bruce Sheaffer, of Middleburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jody Troup, of Paxtonville; one grandson, Jason Sheaffer and his wife, Amanda, of Middleburg; one brother, Marvin Lauver, of Selinsgrove; one sister, Christy Weirick, of Freeburg; two sisters-in-law, Mary “Betz” Lauver, of Mount Pleasant Mills, and Dorothy “Sue” Lauver, of Lewisburg; one brother-in-law, Lester Longacre, of Freeburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by two brothers, Stillwell and Edwin Lauver, one sister, Evelyn Longacre; and one brother-in-law, Galen Weirick.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Leon G. Scholl officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Freeburg.
