EXTON — David P. Herbster, 72, of Exton and Beavertown, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013.
He was born Feb.11, 1941, the son of the late Parke and Ethel Herbster, of Paxtonville.
David graduated from Middleburg High School and earned an accounting degree from Elizabethtown College in 1964.
He held senior accounting positions at Price Waterhouse and Kidde Inc. for more than 24 years before starting his own consulting practice in 1990.
Among his board associations, David was passionate about his role on the board of directors at Liberty Lutheran Services.
David married Kathleen Bauer on May 20, 1967. They lived in Wayne, where they raised three daughters. He was very active in the local community, especially in his church. St. Luke in Devon was his second home. Having recently been elected church council president, he was honored to serve the community that had been a mainstay in his life for 45 years.
David enjoyed hunting, reading, landscaping and growing Christmas trees on his farm in central Pennsylvania. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family, especially with his six grandchildren, whom he cherished.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melissa and Marty Schweiter, Katherine and Mike Miller and Julianne Leighton; two sisters, Janice Fetterolf, of Harrisburg, and Ruth Ann Walters, of Beavertown; and six grandchildren.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Devon, with a visitation an hour before the service. A reception will follow immediately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to St. Luke’s Church, 203 N. Valley Forge Road, Devon, PA 19333.
