COAL TOWNSHIP — E. Yvonne (Irick) Aston, 76, of Coal Township, passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 16, 1936, in Danville, the daughter of the late Clarence and Emma Leona (Schlegel) Irick. In 1958, she met Frederick Charles Aston at the wedding of Ed and Cathy Eccker. Fred and Yvonne were married at St. John’s U.C.C., Shamokin, on Aug. 8, 1959. They honeymooned at Camp Bil-O-Wood, Blind River, Ontario, Canada, which remained their special place.

From 1969 until her retirement in 2000, she worked as a nurse and house supervisor at Sunbury Community Hospital. In addition to her work in nursing, in 1963, Yvonne and Fred became third generation owners of Follmer Florist in Coal Township (established 1917), which they operated until their retirement in 2003.

Yvonee was very active in Iris Chapter 306, Order of Eastern Star, where she served in many leadership positions. She also was a mother adviser for Assembly 126, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, where she helped shape the lives of many young women. She was a member of St. John’s U.C.C., Shamokin, serving for many years as a Sunday school and nursery teacher as well as choir member.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughter, Malinda Mae Carroll and husband, JC Carroll, of Auburn, and Jennifer Susan Aston and partner, Brian Burke, of Coal Township; and four grandchildren, Sean Michael Carroll, of Auburn, Keith Charles “KC” Long, Jenna Mae Sebasovich and Draven Lee Miller, all of Coal Township.
