Lawrence R. Grimm, 106, Mifflintown

MIFFLINTOWN — Lawrence R. Grimm, 106, of Brookline Manor, formerly of Urban, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

He was born Oct. 19, 1906, in Urban, a son of the late Harry E. and Susan A. (Schlegal) Grimm. He was married to the former Gail A. Giles, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1973.

Lawrence retired in 1971 from Columbia Gas Co. as a compressor station operator.

He was a 94-year member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Herndon.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and William Bohner, of Mexico, Pa., Sandra and Richard Johnson, of Mechanicsburg, and Janet and John Pellegrini, of Fairfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Dawn Grimm, of Towanda; one sister, Lena Mauser, of Millersburg; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Troutman.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Herndon, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Thomas R. Degnitz officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Donations in Lawrence’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1473 Urban Road, Herndon, PA 17830.
