SUNBURY — Dr. Dorothy G. Wilson, 87, of Sunbury, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
She was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Downington, the daughter of the late N. Leonard and Josphine (Kein) Wilson.
She graduated from Bucknell University in 1947 and earned her doctor of medicine degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 1951. She also earned a master’s degree in obstetrics and gynecology at Temple.
She practiced in Sunbury for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the staff at Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was a member of Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church, Sunbury, a member of the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Northumberland County Medical Society and a former member of the board of directors of Northern Central Bank, Sunbury.
Dorothy traveled extensively throughout the world. She enjoyed people, and she loved her dogs and had six Labradors during her lifetime. She loved gardening and always kept fit physically with exercise and activity.
She is survived by her life partner, B. Jean Hamara, of Sunbury, and two nephews, N. Leland Wilson, of New Jersey, and Michael Wilson, of California.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St. Sunbury, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday.
Interment will take place privately in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
