Russell was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown, and a member of the Pennsylvania Deitsch Ferammling, a Pennsylvania Dutch heritage organization.

He was an avid woodworker.  He was well known for his oak-crafted porch swings which grace many homes  in the tri-county area.

Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Watsontown, where the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James H. Fladland, his pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the church.
