DANVILLE —Edwin E. Roberts, 80, of White Hall Road, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the Millville Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he had lived for six years.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 3, 1933, he was a son of the late Arnold Sr. and Beatrice (Steinruck) Roberts. On April 1, 1980, he married the former Carol E. Sommers, and they celebrated 33 years together.
Edwin grew up in Bloomsburg and at age 17 enlisted in the Army. He fought in the Korean War and finished his service as a sergeant first class.
Earlier in life, he was employed by Magee Carpet as a superintendent of auto fab. He then started driving truck for Milton Transportation. Edwin retired in 2000 from ABF.
He loved playing golf and watching the Eagles, his favorite team.
Edwin will be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Autumn M. and William Runkle, of Danville, and Amy and Craig Fulmer, of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Eva Marie Runkle and Taylor and Justin Fulmer: one brother, Charles Stauffer; and one sister, Bonnie Stauffer.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold “Jr.” Roberts, and two sisters, Shirley Myers and Janet Kibble.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in White Hall Cemetery with Pastor Anthony Crawford officiating. Services will conclude with full military honors at the graveside.
The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
