SELINSGROVE — Mary E. Partica, 62, of South High Street, succumbed to cancer on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at her home.
Here, in the best of all possible worlds, she enjoyed making quilt tops for the Stitchers group at Sharon Lutheran Church and organic gardening at home and on “the north 40” (the East Snyder Community Garden). She was an avid reader of fiction and a frequent companion to her grandchildren.
Mary was known to suggest quirky books for discussion at the Selinsgrove Library Book Group.
She valued the camaraderie of co-workers at BJ’s in Selinsgrove. Amidst symphonies on NPR and the casual roar of a football game across the tracks, she baked sand tarts and peanut butter cookies. With considerable precision, she could navigate a yard sale and invariably discovered gold at the Mustard Seed. The silhouette of winter trees made her happy.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood Partica, with whom she shared more than 40 years of laughter; her sons, Harvey, Jerry and Frank Partica; her daughters-in-law, Jen, Jenny Ruth and Kindle Partica; grandchildren, Porter and Oscar Partica; her brother, Jay Egli; nephew, Mike Egli; and in-laws, Ellsworth and Pat Partica.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sharon Lutheran Church, Market Street, Selinsgrove, with the Rev. Robert P. Doll officiating.
Donations may be made in her honor to the Stitchers group at Sharon Lutheran Church or the Lycoming County SPCA, Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Her body will be donated for medical research.
Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
