James E. Biggans, 73, Watsontown

— WATSONTOWN — James E. Biggans, 73, of Enterline Road, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1940, in Phillipsburg, a son of the late Steve and Kathryn (Little) Biggans. On Sept. 24, 1960, he married the former Celeste I. Dixon and they have celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Jim was a 1958 graduate of Cooper Township High School and served with the Army from 1959 to 1961.

Earlier in his life, he had worked with his grandfather at Asplund Tree Company. Following his discharge from the Army, he and his wife made their home in New Jersey where he worked for Wallace and Tiernan for 10 years. They returned to the Turbotville area where he had worked for ACF Industries and later retired from Playworld Systems, Lewisburg.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville.

He loved riding motorcycles for more than 50 years, camping, fishing, and wildlife. He enjoyed traveling with his wife through the western states a few years ago, and spending their winters in Florida.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Connie Biggans, of Eyers Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Thomas Perrotto, of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Layneya (Chad) Allensworth and Asondra (Joseph) Acor; six great-grandchildren: Keyana Aaliyah, Nyia and Chance Allensworth and Lillian and Evelyn Acor; a stepgranddaughter, Valeri (Dan) Gardner; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Gabriella, Jenna, and Braydon Gardner; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George and Stephanie Biggans and Stephen Biggans, all of Drifting; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Barbara and Gene Plaska, of Ohio, Karen Zetts, of West Virginia, and MaryJo and Jeff Hubler, of Drifting.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., Turbotville with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jim’s memory be made to Evangelical Hospice, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 277, Turbotville, PA 17772.
