MIDDLEBURG — Dorothy E. Ettinger, 90, of Paxtonville Road, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born April 30, 1923, in Paxtonville, a daughter of the late Oliver P. and Annie M. (Steffen) Gill. On March 22, 1940, she married Elwood B. Ettinger who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1995.
Dorothy attended Middleburg High School.
She assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm and also worked as a patient care aide at the Selinsgrove Center.
Dorothy enjoyed doing embroidery and quilting, and loved to cook and bake, especially for her family.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Julia A. and Ray Crissman, of Hagerstown, Md.; one son and two daughters-in-law, Wayne E. and Mary Ettinger, of Williamsport, and Marlene Ettinger, of Selinsgrove; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and very special friend, Louie Krug.
She was preceded in death by one son, Glenn E. Ettinger in 2008; one daughter, Gail E. Bianchi in 2010; five brothers, Nestor, Benjamin, Arthur, Glenn, and Marlin Gill.
Dorothy requested no viewing. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Paxtonville Cemetery with Pastor Harley Yoder officiating.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
