Louise K. Isaacs, 90, Naples, Fla.

— NAPLES, Fla — Louise K. Isaacs, 90, died Friday morning, Nov. 1, 2013, at Bentley Care Center.

Louise and her husband, Lawrence M. Isaacs, moved to Bentley Village in Naples in 2000 after spending the first 18 years of their retirement in Selinsgrove, Pa. They enjoyed a very active retirement — volunteering, traveling, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. Louise was known at Bentley for her music — she played piano weekly at the Care Center, and was the accompanist for the Bentley Belles and Beaus Chorus.

Louise grew up in Ocean Grove, N.J., the youngest of five children. She discovered her love of music early, and graduated from Susquehanna University in 1945 with a bachelor of art degree in music education, specializing in piano and organ. She taught music to kindergarten through eighth grades for three years. In 1946, Louise married Larry, the love of her life, whom she met at Susquehanna. Together, they built a strong marriage and a loving family. Louise loved being a homemaker and raising four children, but throughout her life, her activities and energies also extended beyond her family. Louise and Larry lived in six states in their 61 years of marriage, and Louise’s motto was “bloom where you are planted.” Louise was very active in the music and women’s ministries of the Methodist Church. She helped coordinate Westchester County Fresh Air Fund for many years, and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Heifer Project International. Louise and Larry were also lifelong supporters of Susquehanna University.

Louise was known for her generosity, compassion, and positive energy. Louise’s grandson named her the “Energizer Bunny” because her energy seemed boundless, even as she aged! She truly cared for “the least among us”, and she extended her heart to all she met. She was a well-loved woman who blessed all who knew her.

Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence M. Isaacs, and son, Thomas M. Isaacs, and is survived by her three children, Jane Isaacs Lowe, of Philadelphia, Pa., John Isaacs, of Carbondale, Colo., and Mary Ellen Isaacs, of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Jan. 11, 2014, in the Isaacs Auditorium at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Place for Children and Families, P.O. Box 990531, Naples, FL 34116 (www.graceplacenaples.org)
