BEAVERTOWN — Cloyd W. “Bill” Wagner, 83, of East Walnut Street, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.
He was born Nov. 3, 1930, in Troxelville, a son of the late Stephen and Helen (Fuhrman) Wagner.
Bill graduated from Beaver Vocational and attended several colleges including the University of Maryland. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1948-1952.
Bill was previously employed as a school teacher. He served for many years as the mayor of Beavertown and was recognized by Reader’s Digest as the Mayor of the Week and helped raise money for the town.
He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and entertaining people at different local jams.
Surviving are his cousins, Elsie Jane Sheets, Ronald Benfer, Allen Benfer, Lila Kuhns, Sandy Northrup, Nancy Erdley, Darla Hackenberg, Margie Wagner, Kay Kratzer, Karen Rager, Mike Wagner and Richard Wagner.
He was preceded in death by two cousins, Gloria Fuhrman and Alton Fuhrman.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
