Donald P. Snyder, 68, Middletown, Del.

— MIDDLETOWN, Del. — Donald P. Snyder, 68, left this earth on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, surrounded by family and friends for a pain free life in God’s garden after a long battle with Lymphoma.

He was born Feb. 26, 1945, to the late Michael Lee and Sarah Jane (Ackley) Snyder, of Danville, Pa.

Don served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967 as a supply clerk stationed in England.

After 30-plus years, he retired from the Wilmington Trust Company in 2010 as an accountant in the Finance Group.

An avid sports fan, Don enjoyed attending Penn State and University of Delaware football games.  A bowler since his teens, he enjoyed bowling with his “Spare Change” buddies as well as tending to his garden, and camping with his family in his RV. Known as the “Candy Man” for his sweet tooth – Hershey Chocolate World was a favorite on the long journey back from family visits in Pennsylvania. After moving from Pennsylvania to Delaware in 1995, Don and Kathy joined New Covenant Church in November 2000 and he served as the church treasurer for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathryn; daughter, Pamela and husband, Adam Kruger; son Robert Snyder, of Middletown; and Poppop to his grandchildren, Morgan and Jonathan Kruger, and Arianna, Sarah, and Ryan Snyder. He also leaves to cherish his memories, one brother, Ken Snyder, of Danville, Pa., and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, and uncle.

He will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, relatives, countless friends, and his church family, all of whom are comforted by knowing that Don is with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, followed by the funeral at noon with the Rev. Dr. Scott Burkley, pastor of New Covenant Church, officiating.

The burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Don’s honor can be made to New Covenant Church, 1125 Jamison Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19709.
