MIFFLINBURG — Pauline M. Mitchell, 88, formerly of Route 304, passed away at 6:17 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Manor Care in Sunbury.
She was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Elvin L. and May R. (Predix) Hoffer. She was married to Walter H. Mitchell Jr. on April 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2010.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Kratzerville, and the Kratzerville Volunteer Fire Company.
Pauline enjoyed puzzles, circle work, old westerns, and The Daily Item. She also enjoyed spending her time on the porch swing watching her grandchildren play. One of the things she will be remembered for by her family were her delicious cream puffs.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Walter L. and Vicki Mitchell, Richard E. and Cindy Mitchell, and David S. Mitchell, all of Mifflinburg, and Brian K. Mitchell, of Millmont; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelva J. and Clinton Cherry, of Millmont; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three sisters, June Metzger, of the Poconos, Betty Bingaman, of Selinsgrove, and Judy Stacey, of Mifflinburg.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadean Snook and her twin, Ethel Yerger, and two brothers, Simon Arthur and Elvin Hoffer.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2 with the Rev. Robert Doll officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kratzerville.
