Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Spigelmyer, 85, Selinsgrove

— SELINSGROVE — Jacqueline J. “Jackie” Spigelmyer, 85, of Stetler Avenue, passed away on Monday morning, May 12, 2014, at her home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Kreamer, a daughter of the late Charles and Carrie E. (Hummel) Lenig. On Dec. 27, 1952, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kreamer, she married John A. Spigelmyer, who survives. On that day, John married the love of his life. he couple had lived in Paxtonville before moving to Stetler Avenue in 1979. Jackie was a 1947 graduate of Middleburg High School, and she was its first prom queen.

Her employment included Bilger Fuels, Middleburg, Wood-Mode, Kreamer, and TriCounty National Bank, Beaver Springs, and she was last employed at Bavarian Pretzels in the Susquehanna Valley Mall, Hummels Wharf.

She was a member of Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ, Selinsgrove. While living in Paxtonville, she taught Sunday school in Paxtonville United Methodist Church.

Jackie enjoyed going to flea markets and was an avid collector of antiques. She was a people person who made everyone feel special and was everyone’s friend. Her family was her passion.

In addition to her husband of 61 years who never said no to her, she is survived by two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Letha and Richard Griffith, Jack and Kay Spigelmyer, Janet Spigelmyer and Rowena Lenig; a special niece who was like her sister, Georgieanne Smith; and four generations of nieces and nephews. She and John were very thankful for the care that her niece and nephew, Georgie and Rich, provided.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters, Harvey, Russell “Pete” and Charles “Jiggs” Lenig, Margaret Lenig, Bertha Dorman, Mae Shaffer, Mildred “Mickey” Hoover, Pauline “Polly” Yerger, Ruth Spigelmeyer and Josephine “Teanie” Mull; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elwood, Bruce, Stoy and Mick Spigelmyer, Harriet Seward, Phyllis Saylor, Jean Hartman and Nora Ritter; and a special niece whom she considered a daughter, Cindy Delancey.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ, 200 Roosevelt Ave., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Bill Dilks officiating.

Burial will be in Globe Mills Cemetery, Middleburg.

Contributions to honor Jackie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.

Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
