Carol E. “Cookie” Young, 67, McEwensville

— McEWENSVILLE — Carol E. “Cookie” Young, 67, of Church Street, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Aug. 12, 1945, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late William A. and Marie (Gold) Bower. She was married to James C. Young, and their 10th wedding anniversary would have been on Nov. 23.

Cookie was a stay-at-home mom for many years and had worked for Callenberger Construction and Kramm Healthcare Center in Milton and was a certified nursing assistant at Geisinger Medical Center, working in the recovery room.

She deeply loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Brian Stackhouse, of Turbotville, and Cindy and Todd Eurich, of McEwensville; one son, Tim Hartzell, of Turbotville; three grandchildren, Tara, Kara and Lauren; one brother, Dick Bower, of Washingtonville; and two sisters, Lois Kirby, of Fort Mills, S.C., and Luella Cyphers, of Milton.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Bower, and two sisters, Betty Strouse and Virginia Derr.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Paul A. Smith and the Rev. Elizabeth Affsprung officiating.

Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
