SUNBURY — James Ralph Messner, 61, of Sunbury, entered in to eternal life with The Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.
Born Oct. 7 1952, the youngest of three children to Ralph Martz and Sarah Pauline (Drumm) Messner.
Growing up on the family farm in Sunbury led to his lifelong passion for farming.
After graduating from Line Mountain Senior High in June 1970, his love for The Lord directed him to attend seminary at Bible Truth Mission where he was ordained in January of 1980.
Throughout his life he enjoyed ministering at Bible Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church including services at Fantasy Island Campground.
Aside from farming he enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends.
He has two surviving siblings Gary Gene Messner and Betty Jane Boltz. His son James Thomas and wife Jennifer (Chairenza) have given him two grandchildren Wyatt James and Abigail Lynn. His daughter Heather Anne married Duane Zimmerman and currently resides in Sunbury.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the St Elias Reformed Church on Hallowing Run Road, Lower Augusta Township, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
