Anita Davies, 88, Northumberland

NORTHUMBERLAND — Anita Davies, 88, of Northumberland, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Mannheim, Germany, a daughter of the late Johann Gottfried and Lina Berta (Frank) Schwarz.

During World War II, she served in the German Air Force as a teletypist, and during the mid-late 1950s, she worked as a dental assistant for the Army Military Post, Sullivan Barracks, Mannheim, Germany, until she married Army Pfc. William J. Yocum in 1958. In September 1959, her husband was relocated to a Pennsylvania military base, and she and her daughter relocated with him, leaving their homeland. On Dec. 10, 1963, in Anchorage, Alaska, they both became naturalized United States citizens. Throughout Anita’s earlier years in the United States, she lived in numerous locations, depending on where her husband’s military MOS took them.

In the spring of 1977, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and in November 1978, she married Air Force Lt. Col. Thomas W. Davies, who passed away on Jan. 5, 2000. She remained in her home in Colorado until December 2010, when, due to failing health, she moved back to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family.

Anita had a lifelong love for animals, especially dogs and cats in need of a loving home, which she provided for many.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara H. and Edward G. Mihalik, of Selinsgrove; one son and daughter-in-law, Siegfried and Ingrid Kieser, of Hohenfeld, Germany; four grandchildren and their spouses, Gina and John Long, of Shippensburg, Jessica and Jeremiah Walker, of Yelm, Wash., Rebecca and Andi Wigand, of Germany, and Genevieve Kieser, of Italy; and seven great-grandchildren, Darcy Long, Gabriel Long, Owen Long, Angelina Walker, Savannah Walker, Leon Wigand and Penelope Kieser.

There will be no viewing, and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
