SHAMOKIN DAM — Robert O. “Bob” Hoffmann Sr., 77, of West 11th Avenue, passed away at 8:39 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1936, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Hubert O. and Alice T. (Murphy) Hoffmann. On June 14, 1958, he married Patricia A. (Moses) Hoffmann, and his passing ends a marital union of more than 55 years.
Bob attended Brownsville High School, graduating in 1954. After high school, he attended California Teachers College.
He was employed by Montgomery Ward for 25 years. After retiring, he worked for many years doing general contracting and plumbing. He was known for home reconstruction.
Bob was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Selinsgrove.
In his spare time, he enjoyed doing puzzles and especially doing his lifelong hobby of model railroading. He also was a member of the Train Collectors Association since 1993.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Patricia, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy M. and Jeffrey Ritter, of State College, and Cynthia A. and David Smith, of Dunmore; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert O. Hoffmann, of Shamokin Dam, and Daniel P. and Trudy L. Hoffmann, of Mountaintop; 10 grandchildren, Christopher J. Ritter and wife Kristi, Steve E. Ritter, Andrew D. Hoffmann, Benjamin W. Hoffmann, Katelynn M. Hoffmann, Jennifer L. Hoffmann, Joshua C. Smith, Michael D. Smith, Abigail C. Smith and Sarah M. Smith; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Sylvia B. Procyk, of Charlotte, N.C., Phyllis B. and Fred Raleigh, of Medina, Ohio, and Alice D. Stringer, of Brownsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Karl and Joanne Hoffmann, of Newbury, Ohio, and John F. and Sue Ann Hoffmann, of Chardon, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan J. Ritter, and two sisters, Joan DeMore and Marilyn Sincevich.
Friends and family will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, where the funeral will follow at 10 with seminarian Brian Olkowski as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Shreiner’s Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
