BERWICK — Jack G. Bower, 86, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center.
He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Nescopeck, a son of the late Lewis Townsend and Mildred (Grover) Bower. He was married to the former Charlotte Raseley for 65 years.
A 1944 graduate of Nescopeck High School, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Jack worked as an accountant at Wise Snack Foods for forty-two years before retiring.
He was past treasurer of the Wise Welfare Association and past secretary of the Masonic Blue Lodge.
A passionate golfer, Jack was a former member of the Berwick Golf Club.
Surviving Jack, in addition to his loving wife, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack R. and Pamela, of Millville and Bradley and Carolyn, of Watsontown; grandchildren, Daniel P., of Watsontown, Katie L., of Manayunk, Jon P., husband to Jaime, of Groton, Conn., and Scott W., husband to Shannon, of Elizabethtown; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, and Alexis; and one niece and nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, 140 E. 2nd St., Berwick, followed by a memorial service celebrating Jack’s life. Pastor Ralph Hartenbach will serve as the officiant.
A burial service for family members will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jack’s memory be made to either Bower Memorial Church, Columbia -Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA. 17815, or to Oklahoma Tornado Relief, Salvation Army Disaster Relief, PO Box 2536, Oklahoma City, OK. 73102.
