Marvin H. “Holly” Hollenbach, 89, Port Trevorton

— PORT TREVORTON — Marvin H. “Holly” Hollenbach, 89, of Port Trevorton, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Marvin was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Harrisburg, a son of the late Harry and Tessie (Bailey) Hollenbach. He was married to the former Alice Blanche German, who preceded him on April 17, 2008.

Marvin was a 1943 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

As a young boy, he and his brother delivered newspapers to homes in Selinsgrove. He was employed at the former A&P grocery store in Sunbury and retired from the former Montgomery Ward Department Store, Sunbury, after 34 years as sales manager. He and his late wife owned and operated an ice cream shop in Sunbury and Hollyware Ceramics, Port Trevorton.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, where he taught the young adult Sunday school class and served on the church council. He was a member of American Legion Victory Post 25 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631, both of Selinsgrove, the Port Trevorton Fire Company and Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge 22, Sunbury. He also was involved with the Selinsgrove Boy Scout troop in his earlier years.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, carpentry, woodworking, gardening and sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Wade A. and Peggy Hollenbach, of Middleburg, Glenn M. and Janet Hollenbach, of York, and Karen L. Harned, of Papillion, Neb.; six grandchildren, Corey Hollenbach and his wife, Crystal, Lindsey Kurtz and her husband, John, Scott Harned, Joseph Gould, Daliss Gordon and Justin Humes; three great-grandchildren, Trinity, Trevin and Tori; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by one brother, Glenn Hollenbach, in 1945 during World War II, and a sister in infancy.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from noon to 12:45 Sunday, with a Masonic memorial service at 12:45 conducted by Masonic Lodge 22, Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 1 at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Ryan K. Gephart officiating, assisted by Jaime Carpenter, director of lay ministries.

Burial with full military honors accorded by Selinsgrove American Legion Victory Post 25 and Selinsgrove Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631 will be made in Orchard Hills Cemetery and Memorial Park, Shamokin Dam.
