MIDDLEBURG — Vanessa F. Hackenberg, 54, of Wes Benfer Drive, passed away at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 25, 1959, in Albion, N.Y., a daughter of Guy J. Hackenberg, of Middleburg, and the late Fae A. (Benfer) Hackenberg. She was married to Scott Roush.
Vanessa attended West Snyder High School.
She had been employed at JPM, Wood-Mode, Hi Li and last as a cook at Lof-T’s Restaurant, Troxelville, until her illness.
She was of the United Methodist faith.
Vanessa collected American Indian and Harley-Davidson memorabilia. The passion of her life was cooking. She was a soft-spoken person to whom her family was everything.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Chad E. and Jen Hackenberg, of Beavertown; two daughters, Mandy A. Howard, of Hummelstown, and Amber L. DeLong, of Middleburg; four grandchildren, Cierrah, Dakota, Blake and Shawnee; one sister, Blyth Hackenberg, of Richfield; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Curtis Hackenberg, of Richfield, and Lofty and Tina Hackenberg, of Troxelville; her stepmother, Edna Hackenberg; and her dog, Foxy.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Yvonne Hackenberg, in 2011.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Tom Adams officiating.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, Beavertown.
