Allen D. Specht, 81, Lewisburg

— LEWISBURG — Allen Daniel Specht, 81, of 97 Valley View Road, passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2013.

A native of Pitman, he was born March 13, 1931, a son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Weary) Specht. He was married to the former Lavona Heim.

Allen was a graduate of the Coal Township High School and after graduation joined the Air Force to become a meteorologist, a position he held for 20 years. He then became a correctional officer at the Lewisburg Penitentiary serving for 20 years.

He attended Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and in his earlier years racket ball and basketball. For the past 20 years he has enjoyed meeting friends at the coffee shop. He was a member of the NRA and Kratzer-Dull Post 182 American Legion, Lewisburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children and their spouses, Lynn and John Laughlin, and Wade and Aida Specht; and two grandchildren, Erica Laughlin and Kim Specht.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, with Pastor Ken Paulhamus officiating.

The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Allen’s memory be made to the building fund of Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Road, Milton, PA 17847.

Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
