SELINSGROVE — Marian I. Witmer, 74, of South Third Street, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Stonington, a daughter of the late Herbert and E. Irene (Dill) McKinney. On July 1, 1961, she married Charles A. Witmer, who survives.
Marian was a 1957 graduate of Shamokin High School.
She was employed for more than 30 years by Groce’s Silk Mill, Selinsgrove.
Earlier in her life, she attended Stonington Baptist Church.
Marian enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards, putting together puzzles and watching TV game shows. She loved animals, especially her dogs, and had a large teapot collection. The greatest joy of her life was her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Danny Bordner, of Sunbury, and Lisa and Paige Caudill, of Middleburg; one son, Steven Witmer, of Selinsgrove; six grandchildren, Brenda McLeod, Amy Spade, Steven Witmer Jr., Amy Fultz, Lynn Shirk and Laura Fegley; 11 great-grandchildren and two more expected; one sister, Margaret Gaugler, of Levittown; and two brothers, Carl McKinney, of Selinsgrove, and Russell McKinney, of Shamokin.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Snyder, and one brother, Robert McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Covenant Community Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 3 with Pastor Arden Steiner officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
Contributions to honor Marian’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation.
