LeRoy E. Still, 83, Liverpool

LIVERPOOL — LeRoy E. Still, 83, of Liverpool, entered into rest on Thursday morning, July 4, 2013, at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

LeRoy was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Herndon, the son of the late Eugene and Bertha (Gessner) Still. On Aug. 23, 1969, he married the former Grace A. Umbenhauer who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 43 years.

LeRoy was a 1947 graduate of Herndon High School, and was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He retired after 33 years of service from the federal government. He worked at Homestead Air Force Base, the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command, New Cumberland, and the International Logistics.

LeRoy was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 925, Millerstown, the Liverpool American Legion Post 364, and Liverpool Lions Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason achieving lifetime status. He was a member of the Middleburg Lodge No. 619, Free and Accepted Masons, the Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Harrisburg, Tall Cedars Forrest Chapter, Millersburg, and York Right Chapter No. 238, Newport.

LeRoy enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, attending carnivals, and was a avid Penn State fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Karen Still, of Newport, and Dary and Joanne Still, of Duncannon; five grandchildren and their spouses, Adam and Barbara Still, Derrick Still, Jeremy Still, Christopher and Beth Still, and Stefanie and Michael Rehman; seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Evan, Justin, Mason, Ethan, Ella Grace, and Harper; one brother, Donald Still, of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Anna Updegrove, of Milton; and nieces and nephews.

LeRoy was preceded by two brothers, Melvin Still in early childhood, and Kermit Still; one sister, Gladys Kahler and her husband, Guy; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Still; and one brother-in-law, John Updegrove.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with a Masonic memorial service beginning at 8:30, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the funeral at 11, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, with the Rev. Joseph Faust officiating.

Burial with military honors will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of LeRoy to the Liverpool American Legion, Post 364, 306 N. Pine St., Liverpool, PA 17045.
