SHAMOKIN — Elizabeth “Betty” Adams Scott, 69, of 4559 Upper Road, passed away at 10:59 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for two days.
She was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Shamokin, the daughter of the late Irvin E. and Ethel E. (Berger) Adams. On June 27, 1972, in Logan, Utah, she married Steven E. Scott, who survives.
Betty was a 1961 graduate of Shamokin High School and a 1965 graduate of Bloomsburg State Teachers College.
She was a high school English teacher for Shamokin Area High School and at St. Mary’s Parochial School, Kulpmont.
Betty was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Northumberland, a Temple Ordinance Worker at the Washington, D.C., Temple, the Northumberland County PASR, Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Fort Augusta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a former commissioner for the Boy Scouts, a Girl Scout leader, a former cheerleading coach and adviser to the yearbook and student council.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Elissa Scott, of San Antonio, Texas, and Emily and Jason Lehman, of Sunbury; two grandchildren, Ellieanah Mroz and Xander Lehman; one brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Karen Adams, of Coal Township; and nieces and nephews, Brandy Herb and husband Jeffery, Diane Zigarski and husband Richard, Autumn Williams, Richard Zigarski Jr., Samantha Zigarski, John Arnold and wife Angie and children.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Farrow Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin. The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2294 Ridge Road, Northumberland, with Bishop Robert Snowden officiating.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
