MONTANDON — Richard H. Wolfe, 81, of Main Street, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at RiverWoods Nursing Home in Lewisburg where he had been residing since May.
Born in Lewisburg on Sept. 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Pearl (Schreckengast) Wolfe. On July 21, 1952, he married the former Carol Sue Walters and they had celebrated 31 years of marriage together until her death July 24, 1983.
Richard was a 1949 graduate of Milton High School. Early in life he worked at Quaker Manufacturing and Prosseda Enterprise in Milton. Later he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Montandon American Legion, Forty and Eight and Baptist Church. Richard was also a member of the Milton Moose.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Tammy Wolfe, of Turbotville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Lou and Steve Williams, of Houston Texas, and Mary Jo and Emory Martin, of Allenwood; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Biddle, of New York and Shirley Mader, of West Milton.
Preceeding him in death besides his wife, were three brothers, Woodrow, Leroy and Elwood Wolfe; and two sisters, Betty Snyder and Cleora Robbins. Also preceeding him in death was his companion for many years, Phyllis Bower.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the minister Woody Wolfe officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Montandon American Legion will follow in the Montandon Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and suggests contributions in his memory be made to either the Montandon American Legion, 110 Railroad St, Montandon, PA 17850 or the Evangelical Hospice, 130 Hospital Dr, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
