SELINSGROVE — Mary B. Vockie, 78, of Pennsfield Apartments, formerly of Trevorton, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Ashland on July 2, 1935, a daughter of the late Leo and Bertha (Sebes) Ringes. Mary was married on April 30, 1960, in the former St. Michael’s Church, Shamokin, to Truman E. Vockie, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2001.
She attended Coal Township schools.
Mary lived most of her life in Trevorton. She worked as a seamstress in local factories and was last employed in housekeeping at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home, Coal Township.
She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Trevorton, Trevorton Senior Action Center, Trevorton American Legion Post 92 Ladies Auxiliary and International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Surviving are one son, Bryan E. Vockie, of San Francisco, Calif.; one grandson, Tyler Bastian; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and John Rydzeski, of Northumberland; two aunts. Anna Kinder, of Shamokin, and Rose Paczkoski, of Coal Township; several sisters and brothers-in-law of Vockie and Petroskie families; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and several special friends.
She was preceded in death by her companion, Walter T. McGinn.
Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St. Trevorton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Trevorton. Relatives and friends planning to attend the funeral Mass are asked to meet at 12:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Patrick Church, Memorial Fund, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
