ELYSBURG — Diane Danielle Broskey, 52, of Elysburg, went to be with the Lord quietly in the company of her husband and family on Sunday, June 15, 2014.
She was a true ‘cancer warrior’ who fought against a rare appendiceal cancer for a decade. Being given only nine months to live at first she
fought the odds bravely adding 10 years and blazing a trail of hope for other abdominal cancer patients.
She was born to Norman and Eleanor Witt in Shamokin on April 11, 1962, and grew up in nearby Kulpmont.
Diane went to Mount Caramel High School and then later trained at the Ashland Hospital for Laboratory Technology.
Diane worked at Sunbury and Geisinger Hospitals as a Laboratory Medical Tech for a total of 27 years. She loved and excelled at her job and enjoyed working in the hospital environment.
Diane was a wonderful wife and caring mother who loved her children dearly. She was a woman of quiet faith who could maintain a strong positive outlook in almost any situation. Her inner strength and sense of humor often minimized the pain she was enduring while putting a smile on those around her.
She enjoyed crafts, knitting, baking, reading, painting, shopping for deals, and going on leisurely walks. She loved caring for her many dogs over the years; many of which were rescues. Her present girls, Chloe and Dora, will miss her greatly.
Diane is survived by her husband, Leon Broskey; her children, Jocelyn and Timothy Hauer, of Hagerstown, Md., and Nathan and Mark Broskey, of
Elysburg; her mother, Eleanor Witt; and sister, Maria Shultz with nieces, Danielle and Erin; brother Norman Witt III and wife, Leann, of Kulpmont, with nieces, Kayla and Mackenzie.
Preceding her in death, was her father Norman Witt Jr., and her grandparents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elysburg Presbyterian Church. A memorial viewing will be held preceding the
service at 10 a.m.
Interment is in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shadyside Family House, 5001 Baum Blvd., Suite 545, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
The Ray W. Rothermel Funeral Home, 387 W. Valley Ave., Elysburg is in charge of the arrangements.
