Dorothy M. “Dot” Shambach, 80, Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG — Dorothy M. “Dot” Shambach, 80, of Route 104, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, June 27, 2013, at her home.

She was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Paxtonville, a daughter of the late Marlin R. and Jessie P. (Attig) Ettinger. On June 16, 1950, she married the Rev. Lear E. Shambach, who survives.

Dorothy was a 1951 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg.

Throughout the years her church service included singing in the choir, the youth fellowship where she was in charge of the department, and faithfully assisted her husband in his ministry. She also was a Girl Scout leader.

Dot enjoyed collecting antiques, raising flowers, swimming, going to the shore and traveling.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bradley E. and Laney Shambach, of Lewisburg, and Gregory L. Shambach, of Middleburg; three grandchildren and their spouses, Beth and Aaron Zechman, Natalie and William Culp and Jeremy and Meghan Shambach; one stepgrandchild, Shawn Swinehart; three great-grandchildren, Maya and Macie Zechman and Dehlia Culp; and one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Ettinger, of McClure.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Lyter.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to noon Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at noon with Pastor Robert P. French II officiating.

Burial will be in Penns Creek Union Cemetery.

Contributions to honor Dorothy’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
