SUNBURY — Carl D. Minnier, 71, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born in Sunbury on Jan. 20, 1943, a son of the late Frederick and Mary (App) Minnier.
In 1960 he graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team.
He was formerly employed by Furman Foods, Northumberland, as a truck driver and then for 38 years as a welder for the Ceco Co., New Columbia.
Carl also owned and operated a farm in Lower Augusta Township.
He enjoyed his horses and trail riding. He was a member of the Hitching Post Horse Club.
He was an avid hunter.
He was at Jay’s Tiffany in Sunbury for lunch every day he could. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Krouse; four children and their spouses, Tina M. and Charles Ludewig, of Milton, Terry R. Minnier, of Milton, Sherry L. and Mark Reader, of Sunbury, and Mark D. and Danielle Minnier, of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, Felecia M. Woolsey, Ayla M. Minnier, Shyanne E. Minnier, Stephany N. Reader, Benjamin D. Reader, Breanna D. Minnier and Carl G. Minnier; one great-grandchild, Addelynn Klinger; two sisters, Hazel Hackley, of Lancaster and Jean Yeager, of Sunbury; and two brothers, Ray Minnier, of Sunbury, and Lee Minnier, of Sunbury.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
