MIDDLEBURG — Michael Roman “Mick” Zyry, 68, of 86 Victors Lane, for the past six years, formerly of Millmont, entered into rest at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Shamokin, a son of the late Michael C. and Kathryn (Weinhoffer) Zyry. On Oct. 22, 1988, in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, he married the former Darlene F. Keister. who survives.
Mick was a 1964 graduate of Coal Township High School. He served in the Air Force from July 8, 1964 until his honorable discharge on July 5, 1968.
He was employed in maintenance at the Laurelton Center for 33 years.
Mick was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Penns Creek, where he assisted with maintenance of the church, and was past Worshipful Master of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 370, Mifflinburg.
Mick was a skilled craftsman of woodcarving and a talented marksman in archery and guns. He enjoyed time with his dog. “Rascal.” camping, hunting, helping others, and was devoted to his family.
Surviving. in addition to his wife of 25 years, are two daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth Nolan, of Danville, and Michelle “Shelly” and Phil Allabaugh, of Middleburg; one sister, Barbara A. Zyry, of Mifflinburg; one stepson, Mark Keister and his wife, Tracy, of Middleburg; one stepdaughter, Angela “Sis” Feltman and her husband, Roger, of Richfield; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Paul Zyry; and one sister, Ruby Louise Zyry.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mick, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Penns Creek, with Pastor Robert Klingerman, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mick’s memory may be made to the Pennsylvania S.P.C.A., 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
