LEWISBURG — Donald W. Dell, 88, of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
He was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Danville, a son of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Myers) Dell. On Jan. 24, 1952, he married the former Cleo Heckman Kennedy, and they lived in the Millville area until 2000, when they retired to the cottages at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
Donald was a 1944 graduate of Danville High School and attended Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre.
He was employed by the Danville State Hospital for 35 years, retiring from the nursing department in 1980.
Donald was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Unityville, where he and his wife played an active role. He was a life member of Moose Lodge 1133, Danville, and a member of Danville Mahoning Lodge 224, Free & Accepted Masons, and the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg. He served on the board of the Gordner’s Cemetery Association for 25 years.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
His beloved wife, Cleo, passed away Dec. 23, 2004, after almost 53 years of marriage. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Edward E. Dell, in 1982; one sister, Jennie L. Deitrick; and one sister-in-law, Zelda M. Dell.
Funeral services will be private with Pastor Ronald Montgomery, of St. John Lutheran Church, and Pastor Gordon Smith, of Espy Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Gordner’s Cemetery.
